Glass
is a superb medium for achieving ‘public
art’. Creating public art in the glazing
of a building, be it cladding or actual glazing, is
very economical. The glass is part of the existing budget,
as are the frames; and the installation also. It only
remains to do something to the glass, and with the ever
advancing technology we have available this is becoming
less and less costly.
For architects, working with facades, allows them control
of the visual texture of the building. The art will
become genuinely part of the architecture rather than
something nailed or bolted onto the scheme at some later
point.
Public Art can be a way of achieving goals for both
planners and clients. Public Art can assist in creating
identity and branding for buildings, making them easier
to market and adding to the urban landscape in a potent
and exciting way. Andrew Moor Associates offer advice
and assistance in developing designs and budgets for
creating public art. We work with architects to ensure
the result adds something that enhances the building
and seemlessly integrates into the architecture.
